Gabriel Burgos was born in Medellin, Colombia on December 16th, 1991. He finished his academic studies at the Columbus school and at the Colombian Colegiatura. His first sculpture formation started in 2005 at the Sculpture workshop at the El Castillo museum and continued learning at the workshop of sculptor Miguel Angel Betancur. Gabriel Burgos’ workshop is currently located in El Retiro, Antioquia. His work has been characterized for exploring classic sculpture and neoclassical sculpture, trying to incorporate contemporary details without leaving out Greek and Roman Art. Burgos is inspired by the human body which he uses as a base for most of his Art to display the nature of mankind. Currently, his focus is to work in molding with industrial modeling clay, then transfer to high quality bronze using the lost wax smelting technique.
