I was conceptually inspired by a still from "La Pluie (Projet pour un texte)" by Marcel Broodthaers (1969). The film, shot in the garden of the rue de la Pépinière during the period of the "Musée d’Art Moderne, Département des Aigles," shows Broodthaers writing in the rain, which washes away the ink from his pen. In the final scene, the artist gives up, and the inscription "Projet pour un texte" (Project for a text) appears. Formally, I was inspired by Gerhard Richter, who in the 1960s began creating his iconic photographic paintings, blurring projected images onto canvas from his personal collection until they became unrecognizable. I hope viewers grasp the narrative about artists who created their own museums, such as Duchamp, Filliou, and Broodthaers. Following this tradition, I created the Davis Museum, The Davis Lisboa Mini-Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona (www.davismuseum.com), an art project and a cultural entity recognized by the Generalitat de Catalunya. The Davis Museum has several sections, including "The Paintings Section," which is divided into portraits of Duchamp, Filliou, and Broodthaers, and still lifes evoking the "Boîte-en-valise," the "Galerie légitime," and the "Musée d'Art Moderne, Département des Aigles."
