Watch VIDEO on YouTube This original andesite sculpture on granite stand is one of the latest artworks of the talented Bulgarian contemporary professional sculptor Ognyan Chitakov, deeply inspired by organic abstraction, postmodernism, abstract expressionism and astronomy science. It is a stunning abstract three dimensional form and an amazing elaborate carving in one solid piece of beautiful raw sandstone rock. The artist's concept is to create an unique spatial form with the help of extraordinary maze of carvings and details, both in order and disorder and leaving the feeling of lightness and outer space flight. The artwork is one amazing contemporary stone masterpiece and exquisite modern home décor. You can twist it by hand in both directions, as seen on the video. Biela’s Comet, short-period comet named for the Austrian astronomer Wilhelm Freiherr von Biela (1782–1856). Biela’s Comet underwent remarkable transformations; it was observed in 1846 to break in two, and in 1852 the fragments returned as twin comets that were never seen thereafter. In 1872 and 1885, however, when Earth crossed the path of the comet’s known orbit, bright meteor showers (known as Andromedids, or Bielids) were observed, lending strength to astronomers’ deduction that all meteor showers are composed of fragments of disintegrated comets.

Ognyan Chitakov is a contemporary professional Bulgarian fine art sculpture artist. He has master degree of education at the National Academy of Arts in Sofia. He lives and works in the beautiful Bulgarian town of Asenovgrad, where his home and studio are based. Sculpture is his main way of thinking, his way of communication, his way of living and his complex look at life. Sculpture gives him the freedom to create and makes his ideas visible. He loves sculpture because it gathers all in him - form, space, function, architecture, design, engineering, technology and above all Art – both fine and sculptural. Among all materials used to shape sculptures his passion lies in stone. Stone is ancient and sacred, and it is already part of his nature. Ognyan Chitakov is nationally famous now for his extra large figurative solid stone sculptures, abstract statues and geometric monuments, which can be seen in many galleries, banks and public places all over the country.
