Kristjana was greatly inspired by Victorian flora and fauna engravings when producing her exotic bird collection and she describes how the forms, shapes and symmetry that can be found in the natural world amaze her. Colour was also a very important factor in this artwork, involving vibrant colours to accentuate the delicate details of the birds feathers and butterfly wings. In her own amazing way she gives the birds in her artwork a sense of charm with a fantastical head dress. Kristjana hopes the viewer will feel a sense of wonder and joy when looking at this piece as this is the way she feels when she looks at nature.
