The Need To Hide And Make A Mark Collage

The work explores the push and pull that exists around the need to be seen and acknowledged and the need to hide and be safe. Ever so often we are all drawn towards actions that seem loud and pointless, wondering whether they will be seen as having the desired impact and acceptance, while other times we shy away from our needs and their fulfillment in order to protect our sense of self from what we may perceive as a threat or a contaminating force. Through this piece, the artist hopes to speak about the feeling of vulnerability that underlies all forms of expression and how we overcome it.
