Spring flowers, and guinea hens, so colourful and fun, I adore guinea hens, one of my favorite subjects. a piece of bright white linen fabric is my background, I have free motion embroidered on my linocut guinea hens, and filled the meadow with all my own hand painted and handprinted fabrics to make my gorgeous linocut collage, colourful, crisp and fresh. First I make the composition, using all my own fabrics, printed with my linocuts and then I have embroidered extensively over the entire piece on my sewing machine, just this part of the process takes me several hours. When I am all done, I add backing to the piece. As it is freehand embroidery it has a drawing quality to it. The textile adds warmth to any space, and I just love making these, imagination can run riot and a textile art piece has so much depth and richness to it. The piece measures 50 cm x 70 cm ( 20" x 27") + fabric for framing. I do intend for these pieces to be framed, there is enough textile to have a nice surround and the textile pieces I make are impactful enough to be able to go big, to make a statement piece! I have signed the artwork in stitch on the front and it comes with a certificate of authenticity. I ship from my studio in the south of Denmark, all my pieces are packed with many years experience to make sure they arrive safely. If you have any questions at all, just get in touch! Thanks for visiting my shop, see you soon again, Mariann

Almost 20 years a full time printmaker and I am as much in love as the day I pulled my first print! My presses have moved with me, from Borneo to Singapore, from Singapore to Spain, and now on to Denmark, where I have set up my studio and gallery. I am self taught, a book, a way to thick copper plate and a gallon drum of nitric acid, making every mistake you could, and learning, learning as I went along. I started with etchings and added linocut when we moved to Singapore. Here I also taught printmaking at Singapore Tyler Print Institue, picking up and learning from the master printmakers there. I never want to be too "old" to learn, to challenge myself, to do better! My inspiration comes from a variety of sources, I have no single line of work, but prefer to make images as they come into my head, through books, I love to read, through radio, music and a huge part, from my daily dogwalks, that not only provide inspiration from nature but also moments of contemplation that results in many of my prints! All my prints are printed on best quality printmaking papers (favorites are Magnani, Fabriano, and Hahnemuelhe) with Charbonnel etching inks.
