i drew this in a journal then i wrote more words i wrote this in a journal then i drew more words What's the difference between a drawing and a poem How can you have one without the other A poem is a drawing turned inside out A drawing's a poem that refuses to shout No, poetry's prose that refuses to shout And prose is the poetry that talks too loud And drawing's the thing that says nothing at all A blank page is best and silence and nothing with ink in the pen and paint in the can clean brushes in jars and nothing yet said yet the saying of nothing is speaking too loud the silence of emptiness is full of its silence blank pages and canvasses unfilled with words each moment unfilled can still be still heard put pen to the page and the silence appears a drawing a painting a poem has no ears you see in it hear in it feel what you may that's all and no more it will ever say
