ABOUT THE ARTWORK
In 2020 I painted "Danish Reminiscence" and since then I've had a great desire to return to this format and scheme. I associate triangles with sails on the sea and waves; and such an orderly, but somehow lively composition, with the Scandinavian and Hanseatic countries. I associate the Netherlands with a "very exclusive modesty". Yes it's blackness, modesty and dark wood-paneled interiors; but always luxurious materials, textures, some gold trinket and beautiful porcelain... It seems to me that contemporary Dutch design is still in dialogue with what we know from Rembrandt, Vermeer or Van Eyck. I hope these echoes are also in this work. Artwork is a triptych - 3 panels 65x110cm. Obviously it is easier to transport, but main reason is to be able to mis-match it in different order or hang it on different levels and change it in time. My works are not focused on craftsmanship perfection and I often built frames my self, so you can spot heads of nails, oneven golden surface or not perfectly matched objects; but I don't think it distortes quality of whole artwork.

Most of the highly celebrated art is about discovering new or commenting on current pressing matters, but my art is about simple everyday willingness to live. I paint because this gives me purpose and joy – it’s like humming nice song for a hundredth time, even thou there were many covers before; preparing favorite drink for a friend and myself, to enjoy it again in a new glass perhaps; dressing up for no occasion, just to look and feel good; caressing a lover… I wish it was the same for recipients of my art – everyday pleasure in experiencing it. Like a book that you red many times, yet you still reach for it; dish that you always order in that place that is there forever... Repeatable, often classic topics; favorite color palette; small and big things that makes us want to live, even thou world can be such an ugly place. I want my art to make it better - even for a moment, even in a tiny way. I want it to remind myself and others that it's worth to try everyday...
