Ombre Painting

My name Ferus, it is stage name chosen during adolescence as a result of my passion for heavy metal music. I was born in Grosseto on the 10/31/1984 I begun expressing an interest and inclination towards fine art since childhood , I wasn’t however able to cultivate this passion till I reached the age of 26 when I suddenly found myself unemployed and therefore begun exploring and experimenting with oil paint, primarily for my own personal pleasure and the intrinsic need of unleashing the creative subconscious. It wasn’t long till I begun receiving commission requests for portraits, during this time I was able indulge my fascination with hyper realism. I than took a long brake from painting once again as I was able to find employment, but unfortunately left me with no time to continue pursuing my passion. Over the last 3 years of my life the pressure from work has finally eased and has therefore allowed me to resume painting. My paintings come to life organically , they begin to unfold the moment I start applying the oil paint to the canvas. They aren’t in-fact the result of a preconceived idea , on the contrary they are the immediate and direct impulsive expression of a thought or emotion, the subconscious revealing itself, unfiltered and unconditioned by the thinking mind. My intent it is not to convey a specific message, but instead to offer the space for the observer to immagine and interpret , so that each piece can serve as vehicle for self reflection. The artists that have certainly had the most influence on my artistic development are De Chirico and Dali. Sono Ferus, nome d'arte scelto in età adolescenziale per vicessitudini legate alla passione per la musica estrema, nasco a Grosseto il 31/10/1984 già da piccolo avevo una propensione all'arte riconosciuta ma non coltivata con continuità non prima di aver raggiunto l’età di ventisei anni. In quel periodo, essendo disoccupato ho potuto dedicarmi a dipingere per piacere personale fino ad arrivare a creare ritratti richiesti su commissione. Il mondo del lavoro poi mi ha riportato lontano dall'arte per diversi anni dove non ho più avuto tempo per produrre. Gli ultimi periodi avendo più tempo per questa passione ho deciso di continuare dove avevo lasciato.
