Sea of Thoughts Painting

The inspiration for this painting comes from having a head full of thoughts. Looking at the North Sea from a Norfolk beach one day, I suddenly likened my thoughts to the movement of the sea. Not just tidal movement but the frantic wavelets rushing in differing directions and at differing paces, as a creative person it is not unusual to have a head full of thoughts - how to put that onto canvas is a dilema - 'Sea of Thoughts' was an approach influenced by natural surroundings. This painting has been produced using mainly palette knife with multiple layers of oil paint mixed with calcium carbonate and thixotropic paint medium. The result heavy layering of materials with a fine art finish, although thick application of paint the surface is quite smooth to the touch.
