Rolling Rocks and Snow, Mt. Shasta Painting

Joanne Evers grew up in Lake Tahoe, California. She received a BA in Graphic Design and Illustration from San Diego State University, and painting instruction with Wayne Thiebaud at the University of California, Davis. More recently she is learning Chinese Calligraphy from Aqin Zhou, at the University of California Berkeley. Evers has had solo exhibitions, participated in group shows, and has sold artworks both nationally and internationally. Evers paints in plain aire, in the Sierra Nevada mountains with the outdoors as her studio. Bringing the majesty of the Sierra Nevada to canvas and paint, Evers' outdoor plain aire painting is influenced by other plain aire artists such as: Monet, Van Gogh, Millet, The Group of Seven, Helen Frankenthaler, Georgia O'keefe, Emily Carr, Maynard Dixon, Elmer Bishoff, Richard Diebenkorn, Wayne Thiebaud, and Chiura Obata. She expresses the peace, power, life force, and joy of nature to her paintings. Exploring themes of climate change, time, water, and an ever evolving relationship with the trees, wildlife and mountains. While at the same time sharing space with the sunshine, mountains, shadows, fresh air, and bird song in the environment; part painting, part just being outside.
