M A R Y E L I S peinture Yorgos Maryelis Biography Yorgos Maryelis was born in Athens. came in contact with the He world of art since his childhood, as his father was the famous painter and teacher of fine and applied arts, Costas Maryelis. He completed the first year of study in free and perspective drawing and design, in Diplareios School of Athens with professors Maryelis, Vrettas and Mathielis (1958- 1962) He was awarded a Crtificate of Studies (1962) after the Ministry of Education exams. Throughout his studies he was honored with four Awards. For two more years he attended classes of painting and decoration in Costas Maryelis studio. The conclusion of his artistic studies, and the recognition of his talent, came with his studies on advanced drawing and painting at the studio of internationally acclaimed Greek sculptor and painter Constantin Andreou in Paris. EXHIBITIONS He has presented his work in many solo exhibitions. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions since 1963 (beginning with the 7 th Panhellenic Exhibition in 1963 at Zappeion) until today, in Greece and abroad, (Most with jury for the approval of participation.) His work entitled "ORKOS" (oath) won the painting prize the 30 th Panhellenic Art Exhibition organized by the Parnassos Literary Society in Athens in April 2010. COLLECTIONS Many of his paintings are found in Municipal and Prefectural Galleries In private collections in Greece and abroad, and in public places such as hotels, ships, etc. PARALLEL WORK His rich artistic history was accompanied (and is still accompanied) by a successful professional activity in the field of Architecture, Design and Artistic intervention. Many buildings in Greece and abroad, dozens of cruise ships, Ferry boats and yachts have been constructed and decorated according to his designs.
