Child of Generation X, Sofigael M., the artist name of Sophie-Gaëlle Martin, is a french visual artist, painter and illustrator, born in 1974 in Boulogne-sur-Mer, on the Opal Coast, France. She was awarded a place as a finalist in the major international painting competition TARTGET PRIZE 2025. Her artistic work was also recently noticed and rewarded with the Certificate of Artistic Merit from the Luxembourg Art Prize 2024. Her creations are characterized by the use of bright and saturated, energetic and dynamic colors, typical of the design and graphic trends of the 70s and 80s. Extrasolar utopias Amateur cosmologist nurtured by speculative fiction and fascinated by space and quantum physics, the artist, a lover of great journeys and tropical environments, pushes exoticism to the extreme with her extrasolar worlds in pop and electric colors. The Art of the End of the World Sofigael M. always speaks to us, with a good dose of humor and a great deal of poetry, about the end of the world. Danger is present, catastrophe is imminent, tragedy is approaching. A tsunami or drought in the horizon, a peaceful and bucolic scene threatened by the cat stalking its bird-friend, a plane crash at the end of a vacation, lurking predators in the shadows, moments of relaxation or tenderness are always fragile, fleeting, and suspended. The threat looms overhead. It is either an intimate or a radical end of the world, but in any case, the end of a world - the one we know so well.
