ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Artwork title: Bobrovytsia. Painting technique: Oil on canvas Size: 60x80 cm. Style: Impressionism. Unframed. Canvas stretched on the wooden stretcher. Paintings depict real life. The active phase of the war in Ukraine lasts more than 5 months. The battles in the Chernihiv and Kyiv regions took place for a little over a month. But even during this time, the war left many of its traces on our land. Bobrovytsia is the outskirts of Chernihiv. The fighting there began from the end of February and continued until the first days of April. After the hostilities, ruins remained from this area of the city. This and several other paintings with views of Bobrovytsia were painted by me not en plein air, but in studio. I used photos that I took shortly after the departure of the Russian army. When I walked through the streets with a camera, the feeling of unreality of what was happening did not leave me. It seemed that I was inside a film about the second world war and around - the scenery. Unfortunately, this is not a scenery, but a reality. People in the 21st century behave like barbarians, destroy each other and turn into ruins everything that was built and created earlier.
