Dennis Schoenberg’s work is grounded in style and identity, whether he’s capturing raw, intimate portraits or crafting glamorous, polished stories. His work is more than just visually striking; it’s a fusion of beauty and narrative that sparks curiosity and thought. He brings an authenticity to his documentary projects, each image imbued with a sense of place and purpose. From the gritty allure of alternative and underground scenes to the intimacy of fetish culture, Schoenberg's lens reveals a world rarely spotlighted by mainstream media. He elevates these subjects not as curiosities but as powerful expressions of identity and freedom, imbuing his work with a depth and authenticity that resonate with those who find beauty in life’s most unconventional corners. Raised within a postmodernist sensibility, Schoenberg credits groundbreaking artists like William Eggleston and Nan Goldin, who redefined fashion photography with realism and an embrace of subcultures. "It was about realness," he reflects, "which is much more rooted in subculture than pop culture." After earning a Master of Arts Degree in Photography from Westminster University in London, Schoenberg honed his craft under renowned photographers, assisting Rankin at Dazed Magazine in London, Steven Klein in New York City, and managing Wolfgang Tillmans’ studio on his return to London. At the heart of Schoenberg’s work is an unapologetic commitment to realness - capturing people and scenes that embody the raw, unfiltered edge of life.
