About The Artwork

This ongoing series of works started spontaneously in late September 2016 as a series of visual diaries. We experience a variety of emotions in the days and weeks of our lives that layer together to form stories we tell ourselves. We have bad weeks. Good weeks. Peculiar days. But when we look back, we have emotions associated with time periods. Visual Diary- March 30, 2017 Cars Crashing. A little red bird. Eyes fluttering, imaging something new. This work served as a visual diary entry for events in late March- a car oriented terror attack in London, my mom looking for hope and luck in a little red bird as she recovered from cancer surgery, myself tossing and turning in my sleep as I quietly turned 30. The work is made with high quality acrylic, found art objects, watercolor and marker on canvas.Hanging hardware can be included upon request

Expressionist artist and writer Adam Chamy explores sleep, wonder, and the otherworldly by rigorously reworking found materials, mundane visual references, and observations of time into unique mixed media works. He draws inspiration from his own intersectional identities as queer and Palestinian and deep fascination with wonder including its’ relationship with the mythic and the otherworldly. The resulting works range from minimal watercolor explorations of identity or place to highly layered collages of human and landscapes studying time or memory. All typically incorporating written narrative or short flash fictions. As an artist focused on feeling, the wide breadth of style and form - visual art, architecture or writing- is employed in service of the emotional language or subject matter behind the paintings rather than to one style and convention.
