A beautiful and bright 3D artwork with bamboo and dragonflies. I love dragonflies! They remind me of my lazy summers spent in Italy as a child. My Mother would read to my brothers and I in the heat of the day, as we sat on the gondola and the dragonflies would flit by the pool, their iridescent wings catching the sun. Magical memories! The dragonfly is connected to the symbolism of change and light, and in Chinese culture, bamboo symbolizes strength and acceptance of the natural flow. So I like to think that by buying this artwork you are bringing a bit more lightness and joy into your life. Each component is carefully drawn and hand cut from Japanese chiyogami papers. Their luminescence lends such a wonderful light and vibrancy to my artworks, which is why I love using them. Each component is then raised at differing heights imbuing the art with a real depth. The artwork comes in a delicate lime washed tulip wood box frame and is signed in the bottom left hand corner.

I am an artist specialising in hand cut and painted paper artworks. Drawing inspiration from nature, colour and form, I cut and draw each component by hand, creating joyful artworks that are individual, imaginative and full of movement. My precision and attention to the detail of each component guarantees that every work is unique. I love working with paper as it allows me to be absolutely precise with my incisions, and as my intent is to create movement not only in the subject matter but also within the medium, paper lends itself wonderfully to manipulation so that the birds or the butterflies literally take flight. I use predominantly Japanese chiyogami papers for their vibrant colours and luminescence, as well as Italian fine papers to reflect my heritage.
