Given the range of latitude in which Colombia is located, the incidence of sunlight in this country is very different from that of other places in the world. Sunlight falls directly on Colombia, filling sunrises and sunsets with contrasting colors that change swiftly, unlike those in northern and southern latitudes where light falls on the earth at an angle, and changes in color take place slowly and smoothly. The colors of the sky change drastically in just a matter of minutes in Colombia, creating chromatically contrasted and saturated landscapes. In addition to this, there is the altitude of the Andes, where the density of particles generates different atmospheres, and a singular light shines within each thermal floor. This collection of tapestries seeks to transcribe the ephemeral instants of sunlight in the Colombian Andes. Such moments of light provide us with a very singular perception of color, which in turn shapes our relationship to these surroundings. In each piece I endeavor to capture a unique instance of color that is created in contrast with the mountains, which is part of the identity of the Colombian Landscape.
