ABOUT THE ARTWORK

A symbolic representation of a literal and metaphoric withdrawal from the external landscape to the internal room. A paradoxical setting up and breaking down of boundaries; green and blue borders defining a frame around a 'view' or idea, this painting can represent a life now brighter and more present in a living and dying environment, learning to find mystery and comfort in it as the cycle of nature continues. A space of imagination and wonder resides in the blue room. Painted on stretched canvas with high quality 'Golden' Acrylic paints. Framed white wood edge. Varnished Satin Matte. Signed front and back. UV and dust resistant. Can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Size: 80x60cm/31x24inch. Framed. Ready to hang.

As an Irish and Berlin based artist, I explore the deeper memory world of archetypes and how they resonate in the landscape around us. (+90M views of my original art GIFS on giphy) As a self-taught mixed media artist based in Berlin, I explore the deeper memory world of archetypes and how they resonate in the landscape around us. Growing up in the West of Ireland influenced my exploration of memory and imagination, both of which are central to my work and rather than specific places or people are a deeper reflection on nature and the ways it can develop our experience of the present, by means of a generational memory that is a thread I try to tease out in my paintings, drawing inspiration from folklore and mythology to unravel the hidden stories that our natural surroundings hold. Combining traditional drawing and painting techniques with digital manipulation and collage elements to create intricate and vibrant artworks that inspire curiosity and reflection, some artworks ask abstract questions, while others are simply a reason to pause, look, take a breath and remember. As a self-employed professional artist I want to give you the very best value, quality and service that I can. All my original paintings are made on quality material, painted by hand and inspected carefully. 3 of my artworks hang in the HSE Corporate Finance Center, Irish Government Building, Dublin, Ireland. My painting, Matterhorn, features on the cover of Mountains and the German Mind: Translations from Gessner to Messner, 1541-2009 Edited by Sean Ireton (University of Missouri) and Caroline Schaumann (Emory University) Visits to my studio are welcome. Please email or call for an appointment. Irish Studio: Cluinbruin, Cornamona, Co. Galway, Ireland. Berlin Studio: Winterfeldtstr. 46, 10781 Berlin, Germany.
