Rain at night in London traffic. This painting captures the excitement of the big city, the traffic, the lights, and the people all brought together collectively in the rain. The beautiful shades of blue, red, green, white and black harmoniously work together in heavy impasto, museum-quality oil on stretched canvas in the original size of 16" h x 20" w. The edges are finished to match the painting. It can be hung the way it is although I prefer a frame that will enhance the painting as well as match the decor of the owner

I create original oil painted art on canvas with palette knife and brushes using impressionism and abstract expressionism mixed with realism. This creates a synergistic relationship between the viewer and the painting. The viewer becomes part of the art as they interject themselves in a memorable setting, landscape or city. I take a simple visual and create an entire emotional experience for you, the art lover. You can almost FEEL the movement of the wind or the rain. Although I am primarily self-taught, over the years my love for painting started when I studied art at the University of Colorado. While a student I won several awards for my oil on canvas and acrylic paintings. I continued taking classes in painting while in Japan whenever possible. I have always been multifaceted. It gave me the opportunity to spend time developing my craft. I am not your typical artist. As a young man during the draft for the Vietnam War, I elected to serve my country by becoming an Army Intelligence Case Officer recruiting in Japan during the war. As we all know, gathering intelligence is extremely important and is done by all countries and organizations. After I left the military I was working in Alaska as a civilian and studied landscape oil painting. I worked over 20 years in construction management managing multi-million-dollar design-build projects while honing my artistic talent. I describe my impressionistic style as being akin to the difference between an organ and piano. An organ fills the room with sound leaving little for anything else. The piano creates a tone which momentarily fills the room and quickly dissipates requiring the listener to participate and fill the void until the next note is struck. This immediately creates a synergistic relationship between the artist and the art lover who envisions being the subject of the painting. The art lover becomes part of the art as they interject themselves in a memorable setting or city. Using this technique, it takes a simple visual and creates an entire emotional experience for the art lover. My “Umbrella Series” sold in the upscale gallery with much success.
