"Rocks in the Garden" is an acrylic on raw canvas painting. I use similar methods to Helen Frankenthaler and let the paint soak into the canvas rather than sitting on top of the canvas. It allows me to create more watercolor type effects. I've also used a small amount of encaustic pigmented wax. And I have burned into the canvas in areas to create floral type designs.

The painting measures 14" X 14" X 1 1/2". The sides of the canvas are painted the cream color from the background. I have left areas of the raw canvas showing in places.

Hanger provided on the back so it's ready to hang. Signed on the front. Finished with many coats of matte varnish.

Wyanne Thompson is a painter whose work reflects both her creativity and her remarkable personal journey. A BFA graduate of Wesleyan College, she has been a full-time artist for over 30 years, creating colorful, bold pieces that inspire and uplift. In late 2013, Wyanne (pronounced Y-Ann) was diagnosed with Stage IV head and neck cancer, undergoing surgery to remove her tongue and numerous lymph nodes. Despite the challenges, she relearned to speak and has been cancer-free for 10 years. Her survival journey transformed her art. Painting became her way of communicating and healing, capturing magic through color and energy.
