ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Barn swallows are amazing birds, crossing incredibly long distances for their size. Also, they are great recyclers. For centuries, they nested close to the human homes and dependent on our construction and the way we handle buildings. "Barn swallows" is a part of the paintings' series "Migratory birds" which artist dedicates to the bird species which migrate long distances and are endangered due to the changing climate conditions and illegal hunting. The series called to draw attention to the environmental issues and human migration. In this series, the artist moves away from detailed backgrounds towards abstract ones to highlight the object and to show countries and continents they are crossing and the dangers they face. Acrylic on canvas, palette knife, 60x80 cm 23.6 x 31.5 inch

Iuliia (also known as Redilion) is an artist from Ukraine born in 1991, and currently based in Germany. She embodies her fascination with natural landscapes using oil, acrylics, watercolors, and ink. While trained as an architect, Redilion studied classical drawing and composition, painting, and coloristics. In 2012, she took part in her first international art experiment “La Gioconda Project”, exhibited in London. Travels around Europe and the study of the work of the Impressionists had a huge impact on her work. She does not divide art into serious and comic; traditional landscapes and humorous cartoons coexist in her portfolio. Her other works concentrated around birds, nature, and folklore. Currently, she is pursuing her degree in architecture and teaching Ukrainian folk arts for children and adults. In her free time, she takes trips and exercises plain air drawing.
