A personal view of post-war artists and the impact of today's art. >> What I want to convey is the connection between contemporary art and the pop art of the eighties. And the relationship to street art and graffiti. What is street art, and are there limits. What does one still see as graffiti and what is crossover. With influences of abstract art, minimal art. Visiting the museum as a child remains a source of inspiration, which then made an immense impression in my work. As an uncontrollable impulse. >> I mainly work with acrylic paint and ink. Mostly on paper but also on canvas. In addition, the computer is also a tool for digitizing collages and mixed media work. >> In my work I try not to give the viewer a variation on existing art, although it is almost impossible to make something stand-alone. Everything has already been done and everything has already been used. A personal handwriting is what remains. A lot of work in street art is based on Basquiat, Haring and Warhol. What can blur the recognisability of a personal handwriting. But influences from pop art and post-war art are inevitable. As a creator, the work has to inspire or fascinate you, not because it is a reflection of existing famous art. Which is often the case. Too often art is classified by curators as a precursor variable where a work must comply, leaving less room for innovation and uniqueness.
