Park Ju Kyong's art centers around the lives of ordinary people, capturing the empathy of those around them. In her series titled "Citizen," she explores the natural expression of aesthetic sensations and decorative instincts through women, shaped by the movements and expressions of various characters. Her focus lies not in metaphysical or aesthetic theories, but in the unique observations and affinities of women, and their ability to communicate through visual art. In these works, Park vividly portrays the diverse facial expressions of city dwellers, directing their daily lives through detailed depictions of costumes and belongings. She outlines figures against monochrome backgrounds, enhancing some with intricate fabric patterns. This technique infuses her canvases with lively urban glamour. Inspired by Cubism, Park employs a collage technique using fabric to reintegrate fragmented forms pioneered by Picasso and Braque. This approach enriches her compositions by introducing objects and restoring spatial dimensions with a contemporary twist.
