ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Winner of Best of Show for the 2009 Faces of Utah Sculpture Exhibit. The stone is Meyer's Onyx quarried in Arizona. Sometimes a piece of stone has so much to say beneath its rough surface that one need to just start cutting to start the conversation. This piece was about discovering the rich colors and intricate grains and letting them inform me what the shape should be.
