Tomomi was born in Gunma, Japan, and began her creative journey in graphic design, later expanding into filmmaking and photography. Her love for cinema began in school, where she created her first work: a stop-motion, single-frame, hand-painted animation on 16mm film. This early project ignited her passion and led her to the London Film School in Covent Garden, where she connected with filmmakers from around the world. Throughout her career, Tomomi has contributed to a range of independent projects, including a short animated documentary for the BBC. Her art-directed works have screened at film festivals worldwide, showcasing her innovative approach to visual storytelling. Her first solo exhibition, held in 2003 at a gallery near Kath Kidston's inaugural store in London’s Holland Park, featured drawing, illustration, kirie (paper cut-out art), and acrylic painting. Among her notable achievements, Tomomi’s work was selected as "Undiscovered Talent" by a renowned Japanese presenter from over 5,000 submissions in 2020. She was also the first Editor's Choice on and recognized as the highest sales artist of the month on TAGBOAT Next GenerationS in 2012. Now based in Japan, she continues to explore and push the boundaries of visual storytelling across diverse artistic forms.
