London artist, currently based in Perth, Australia. Sophie Green is a Fine Art artist who graduated from Central Saint Martins where she specialised in painting. Since graduating she has exhibited throughout England and Australia. Her work consists of an evolving process in which she formulates a visual response to surfaces and imagery. Exposed through tension and conflict then activated through the fragility and brutality of the surface, her work is created by manipulating materials. The outcome often represents destruction, disorder and decay, through forced deterioration and natural weathering of the material. The underlying themes consider history and memory that have been corrupted, clouded or overseen. Unreliable histories and blurred memory can create a remarkable discomfort and she expresses this through paintings, drawings and mixed media artworks.
