Everyone has a story to tell, whether young or old, poor or rich. Some stories are more compelling than others. This original work depicts a moment in the life of a poor man (Lazarus), who humbly seeks the help and support of others. The rich man, however, sees no need to stop and engage Lazarus. B...

Trinidad And Tobago
Born in the Caribbean twin-islands of Trinidad & Tobago, I grew up surrounded by a world rich in color, movement, creativity and rhythm. Even as a child, I was mesmerized by the precision of architectural design—the way line and form could define space, create depth, and evoke emotion. This fascination with structure became a guiding force in my artistic journey, shaping my deep appreciation for composition, balance, and the intricate dance between order and expression. When I migrated to New York with my mother, the towering cityscapes and geometric patterns of urban life only intensified my love for design. But my path into fine art was birthed in 1995 when I was welcomed into a weekly gathering of artists—some just beginning their journey, others already accomplished. Encouraged to complete my first painting, a watercolor, I discovered an entirely new dimension of creative expression. From that moment, I knew art would become my voice. Though my formal studies led me to behavioral sciences, my artistic instincts remained deeply tied to structure and form. Working primarily with pen & ink, watercolors, and acrylics, I explore the interplay between precision and fluidity, strength and grace—echoing the architectural influences that first captivated me. Pen & ink, in particular, allows me to embrace the discipline of line work, while watercolors and acrylics give me the freedom to break boundaries with bold color and organic shapes. My work is a reflection of culture, rhythm, and the human experience, drawing inspiration from African and Caribbean influences. The bold patterns, overlapping forms, and vibrant energy in my pieces pay homage to the dynamic world around me. I find artistic kinship with visionaries like Elizabeth Catlett, Romare Bearden, Charles Wilbert White, John T. Biggers, Georges Seurat, and Georges Braque—each of whom mastered the art of storytelling through form and movement. Beyond my personal practice, I dedicate time to mentoring young persons with disabilities, encouraging them to explore art as a means of self-expression. For me, art is not just about creating—it is about connection, communication, and transformation. Now back in Trinidad & Tobago, I embrace every opportunity to sketch, paint, and explore new creative frontiers. My ultimate goal is to refine my craft, challenge artistic boundaries, and use my work to inspire meaningful conversations. Art should speak. It should move. It should leave an imprint on the soul.
