This painting may be humorous based on one’s geographic and social contexts. In Central America, however, it was common to see a bovine-pulled cart as a means of transportation. This painting is a inspired by a blending of cultures and traditions, capturing the memories of scenes I’ve witnessed throughout my life; including, the cart from my childhood, the shifting colors of the leaves that I experienced for the first time in New England, and the modern technological advances with transportation in the global “Uber” era. I hope you enjoy.

Latino-American artist Aubier Torres was born in El Salvador in the late 1960s. As a child, Torres was forced to migrate to the United States with his family as political unrest swept through his homeland and changed the face of El Salvador. Torres discovered his passion for art through the 1980s street graffiti renaissance of the Mission District in San Francisco. Throughout his life, Torres has pursued service in the United States Marine Corps, a degree from the University of Central Florida, and a long career in electrical and technological engineering. Though once only a mindless hobby, painting has refocused his life and given Torres an outlet for creativity and expression. Torres credits his heritage as one of many inspirations for his current work and invites any art enthusiast to join him in his continual exploration of identity through interactive media.
