This atmospheric oil painting is one of an ongoing series celebrating Aberdeen. It was painted plein air, in quality oil paints, close to where the River Dee enters the harbour. The style is impressionist and captures the mood on a cloudy summer afternoon.

I grew up in Aberdeen, Scotland, where I recently returned to live. I studied at Edinburgh University and Edinburgh College of Art in the 80s. I travel extensively for painting, including North Africa, Latin America and the USA. I spent almost twenty years in Brazil. I work in oils on a small scale. I paint plein air- working directly from my subjects- usually landscapes or architecture, but occasionally still lives or portraits. I carry these wet paintings in cardboard carriers: many people like to use these to display the paintings. Some of these carriers can be seen in the portfolio. In 2002 I won the Dedalo Award, and In 2016, I won the Anne Redpath Painting Award for a painting exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy.
