Nigerian women wear elaborate head dresses and head ties for special occasions like introduction (engagement), weddings, child birth, and funerals. This is just one of many styles and fabrics destined with beads and sequins. My mixed media painting is lovely to look at and tempting to touch it's 3D beaded blouse. Acrylic and archival ink on textured HDF wood. The woman is wearing a blue beaded headtie/head dress (gélé) , maroon embroidered blouse (buba) and a thick sequined shawl (iborun) over one shoulder. This is the typical attire for festive occasions. Different tribes of Nigeria have distinct names for the fashion items. I will ship it to you in a sturdy box.
