Denis lives and works in Sofia, Bulgaria. His paintings explore themes of comfort and familiarity and feature a variety of elements, such as household objects, things of beauty seen during his trips abroad, and plants spotted on his morning walks. His artworks feature limited palettes, and he arranges squares of color in an unplanned, spur-of-the-moment sort of way - like solving a puzzle or playing Tetris. The collaged elements in his work are a way to add fullness and texture to the piece, as well as utilize leftover pieces of paper and upcycle packaging. Denis is also a children’s book illustrator and author, translating the main characteristics of his illustration style - playfulness, bold crooked shapes, and wonky lines into his fine art practice.
