Lina Kogan is an award winning American contemporary sculptor and mixed media artist. Her multi-faceted mixed media, collages, abstract paintings and ceramics were exhibited by Torrance Art Museum, American Museum of Ceramic Art, Pacific Design Center, Neutra Institute Museum, TAG Gallery, California Conference for Advancement of Ceramics Arts (CCACA). Lina was born in Ukraine. She moved to US in 1992 and graduated from USC in 2000 with Masters degree in Multimedia and Creative Technologies. Kogan’s first ceramic sculptures emerged in 1996, followed by mixed media and experimental abstracts. She currently resides in Los Angeles, California. Taking "reduce, reuse, recycle" principle to the next level Lina builds abstract minimalistic 2d and 3d art with found objects from hi-tech world. Disassembled gadgets become pieces of the puzzle that join paint and clay in the multi-layered artworks. Kogans mixed media pieces don’t reference recognizable forms. The outcome is deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and is open for interpretation. Kogan co-curates and moderates on-line art-talks, exhibits, and charity auctions. She received multiple awards including Emerging Artists Jeanne Ward Foundation award, Homage to Russian Avant-Garde award by renowned art critic Peter Frank. Lina Kogan had 7 solo and participated in 48 group exhibits in the US and overseas.
