‘White on Light I’ is part of a series of two- and three-dimensional paintings, sculptures, installations, and works of art that reflect my fascination with structures both fixed and ephemeral. Made from recycled plastic, it’s an invitation to explore the potential of discarded objects to be turned into things of beauty, as well as a connection to the beauty of repetitive work in the creation of our own material and textures. I chose plastic as my medium for its unique malleability, connection to our complex relationship with materials, and translucent nature that evokes an undulating spatial concept. Not unlike a blank canvas, ‘White on White I’ allows the viewer to create their own conclusions, yet presents the journey in a robust, playful and textural format. ‘White on Light’ (plastic painting) made from recycled plastic, as a metaphor for our air and water, to protect our environment. The final piece creates an illuminated light sculpture to be hung on the wall. A percentage of the profit will be donated to 4ocean.
