My dialogue centers on critiques of the destructive performances of normalized masculinity while honoring feminine beauty of strength. My intention is for the audience to attach human emotion to the piece and see themselves implicated in my social critiques, moving beyond complacency or routinized outrage to action. Scott Shoemate is an emerging southern Californian contemporary artist. His work has been exhibited in Ventura, Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego. Scott has lived in New York City, Illinois, New Jersey, Montreal, and Texas. He is a graduate of The American University and Northwestern University and lives in San Diego with his wife and three children.
