I'm a Fine Artist from Taunton, Somerset. I graduated from Somerset College in 2009 where I gained a first class BA (hons) in Fine Art and graduated with my Masters in Fine Art from Plymouth University in 2012. At present I continue to develop my art practice in Somerset alongside working part-time as a bookseller. In some way or another all of my art work is about tools. What started off on my degree as an interest in drawing everyday and banal objects has become an obsession in using tools as both the subject matter and means to make the work (specifically, using a hammer to draw with and create marks during the mono printing process). I have grown up in Somerset where my grandparents had a farm so I was fortunate to have plenty of source material in the form of agricultural tools on my doorstep! I really enjoy drawing and creating large scale mono prints of these objects which has been the basis of my art practice and is something I continue to explore. Previous art projects have included working with the "˜Somerset Heritage Centre' in Taunton where I researched hurdle making and thatching tools to create mono prints and work inspired by some museum modes of display and presentation. I remain fascinated at the potential tools have as objects both visually and culturally which I continue to use to explore and create new work.
