> Profile Name: Marianne Hendriks Born: 1987, Amsterdam, Netherlands, Europe Based: Amsterdam Profession: fine artist Medium: Dutch oil painting Main subjects: Botany, nature, history, narrative, architecture, geometry, philosophy, expressive writing and mental health. Repertoire: architecture, academic drawing, technical drawing, historical oil painting techniques, Trompe l'oeil, Faux Art, printing, scanning, photography > Artist statement I am a Dutch artist, working predominantly in traditional oil painting techniques. I studied at St.Martins Foundation Year in Art and design in London, and completed my BA in Architecture also at St Martins. I have worked my whole career in the Arts Industry. My experience in the creative industrie is diverse. I started set building and costume designing and sewing for theatre and dance. I designed and built sets, and designed promotional artwork material and graphic artwork. I have worked with major brands including Nike, Starbucks, the Goodwood Revival, Soho House, Liberty and Uniqlo. I have worked in various media, including photography, virtual reality, set design, installations, and graphic design. Collaborations, production and management of teams is a fundamental part of the large projects.  My ambition has always been to be a professional artist. In 2017 I decided to continue my career in fine art solely. At the chore of my work are building and designs techniques. My main subject is nature and its narrative in our culture. I explore diverse visual representations and use a wide range of techniques in my work. My Dutch heritage and techniques of the great Dutch masters are fundamental in my work. Alongside my work I practice the Dutch painting techniques and have been formally trained by a master for four years in Amsterdam. My oil paintings possess a rhythmic quality, created by the repetition of pattern and texture, and seek out balance between realism and highly stylized expression. Quality and craftsmanship of the art work and materials are important in every element and presentation of the artwork. I consider preservation also important, all materials archival/ acid free as well as sustainable. In he studio I aim to be as sustainable as possible and no chemicals are used and no plastics in packaging and shipping. The frames and crates are designed and handmade in the Atelier. I work with clients all over the world. I exhibited in Amsterdam, London and New York.
