I always loved drawing / painting and i just didn’t like putting framed posters or reproduced art on my walls. When we bought our house i started creating paintings to put up on our walls. Soon after people who came over and saw my work started asking for portraits and other subjects to be painted. Since 2016 more and more people contacted me asking for an original piece. Now, in 2019, my art has gone over the Dutch borders to countries like Amerika, Canada, Spain, Sweden en Germany. My biggest inspirations are Vincent van Gogh and Herman Brood. Both Dutch painters who used aa lot of color in their work (although the early van Gogh’s are rather dark). I believe it is because of these two great artists that i have developed my own style and technique while trying to honor them in the paintings i create. I am a social worker, married and have 4 children (3 daughters & 1 son). Painting is a hobby which helps me relax during my time off. I usually put on some music and spend several hours in my studio. I also enjoy playing guitar, hiking with my family and watching Formula 1. ASD (autism) makes my social life close to nothing and i prefer home to crowded events. Still i like to visit a concert every now and then and can spend several hours in a museum. Through my art i do however meet new, interesting people and enjoy talking about painting. I have had the amazing honor to meet some of my “idols” because of my hobby but also stayed in contact with some of my buyers. I guess painting is my way to stay connected with the “big scary world” and i am glad people enjoy my creations! Art is something that unites people of all age, sex, religion and race and anyone should be able to have something colorful on their wall. That’s why i do this, that’s why i paint. I hope that when i am long gone my great, great grandchildren will one day find a painting hanging somewhere and say “hey! our great, great grandfather painted that”.
