The Bomb Photograph

I was born in Hampstead,London,on the 17th of October 1984.I have lived in London, Basingstoke and Southampton.I have just completed a BA{Hons}in Fine Art.Apart from painting, I also have a great love of music and write live music reviews for a local newspaper on a freelance basis.I am currently looking for a post as an art gallery assistant.

From an early age, I have had a strong passion for music and it has played an important role in many aspects of my life.

I have always thought of music as being not just simply an aural experience but also a visual one and, because of this, I have frequently used music as an aid when painting.The rhythm of the piece almost conducting my brush to create either sombre, slow and dark pieces or bright, energetic and vibrant work.

I have utilized the use of specific colour theory and shape depending on the piece of music, particularly that of Electronic music; which I have seen as visually consisting of a straightened but yet chaotic order of shape.

For these reasons, I have based my work on the interpretation of music into pictorial representations that result from the sensations, feelings and states of mind created by a musical environment.
However, this is also an experimentation of my own creative technique by exploring the visual languages of colour, line and shape to create work that also represents me as an individual.

My work explores the intimate and subjective relationship that the audio and visual have together to create a series of abstract sound landscapes that can be aesthetically pleasing to the viewer, whether or not they are made aware of the musical influence.

I believe music and art do not exist separately and an understanding of their close inter-relationship can bring the individual to a more profound understanding of their own relationship to the ever-changing world of the 21st century.
