About The Artwork

This collaboration between photographic artists Lexi Laine and Nadia Attura, draws their shared appreciation of Mother Nature, the natural world and feminine energy. Lexi’s ethereal underwater photography and Nadia’s evocative botanical collage come together to depict a magical scene in the pristine jungles of the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico. In the heart of the jungle, where earth and water meet… Lexi is a freediving underwater photographer, undertaking her work in some of the most unique open water environments around the globe. More often than not her photographs depict a single female or multiple women, featuring highly skilled freedivers as the subjects. Nadia's works balance between the real and the surreal, transporting us to distant, hazy lands. Vintage, pastel tones and an illustrative approach imbue her works with a dreamlike feel that is further enhanced by her meticulous collaging. Location: Yucatan, Mexico Corazón de la Selva forms part of their ongoing project collaboration. This limited edition photograph is printed using archival inks on 100% cotton Hahnemuhle photo rag fine art paper. Each edition is signed, numbered and sent with the corresponding certificate to guarantee authenticity. The prints are carefully rolled and placed in sturdy tubes for shipping. If you have any project that requires both underwater and overwater photography or wish to discuss bespoke size requirements then please contact us via curator@saatchiart.com Available as: 50 x 50 cm - (approx 20 x 20 inches) - Edition of 40, $500 + shipping 76 x 76 cm - (approx 30 x 30 inches) - Edition of 30, $950 + shipping 101 x 101 cm - (approx 40 x 40 inches) - Edition of 20, $1800 + shipping 127 x 127 cm - (approx 50 x 50 inches) - Edition of 10, $3100 + shipping

Lexi Laine is based in the UK and specialises in creating ethereal underwater photography in some of the most unique locations around the globe. She has spent several years training as a freediver in order to extend the amount of time she can stay underwater. Works responding to the human impact on the marine environment can be seen throughout the artist’s portfolio. Influences of 17th and 18th century baroque painting, fantasy and folklore can also often be found in her images. Laine enjoys explorations of surreal contradictions, blurring boundaries and using photography as a means to create otherworldly, emotive art. Laine studied BA Fine Art at UCA (University for the Creative Arts) Canterbury in 2001-2004 and since graduating has been building her career as a photographer and artist. In 2020 Laine was awarded the winner of the Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize Photography Award. In 2018 and 2019 she was awarded ‘Image of the Year’ by leading UK training provider, Photography Farm. Also in 2019 Laine was sponsored by Sony UK to create a short behind the scenes documentary of her practise titled 'Under The Surface'. The project was undertaken in the magical cenotes of the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico.
