André François van Vuuren (born 15 September 1945) is a South African expressionist artist known for his abstract landscapes and paintings of people, individually or in groups. Technically, he makes use of oil transfer line work, print, pallet knife and brush, working in oil paint on linen and on paper resulting in many layers of glazed and mixed colour. Working at pace, on large canvasses, his work has a spontaneous and vibrant quality, drawing the viewer into the painting. . His ancestors were German (maternal grandfather) and Dutch (1692 settlers).
