I earned a B.A. in Fine Arts at Central Saint Martin's School of Art and Design in 2004 in London where I lived for almost a decade. After winning the Kate Burton award for painting, I returned to Italy, where I participated in a number of exhibitions, including the International Bologna Art Fair. I currently live and work in Umbria. My artworks are born on the canvas with no or very little planning and they gradually take shape in, at times, unexpected ways. I stretch and prime the canvas myself, as a sort of ritual which helps me get in tune with my innermost, creative self. Making art is for me an inner necessity, a very powerful spiritual need which yearns to be expressed by means of an outer form. It is not really important what I make, as long as I am true to myself. I find Paul Klee's words in this regard enlightening: "[...] the artist is not only justified in using, but it is his duty to use only those forms which fulfil his own need [...]". While I am making something, my "intuition" takes a cue from it and develops a further strand of research and then a new one, in a sort of endless discourse whose origin keeps eluding us. (Paul Klee: "The work of art is born of an artist in a mysterious and secret way [...]). The lines and marks I make on the canvas are brought to life by the pencil and the sewing thread, my working tools. It is with them that I try to give shape to that entangled network of energy that I believe holds the universe together and that connects us all. WEBSITE: FACEBOOK: ?sk=timeline
