I was thinking on my granddaughter when doing this face. There are some similarities. I like to imagine her as an artist when she grows up. In control of her hands to create and to germinate, capable of looking at things from many perspectives, hence the eyes in her head. with a big heart and the capacity to look inwards, to study her mind.

I am interested in experimenting with sincretic images that capture the whole range of religious experiences. I am inspired by the architecture and mural paintings of the Aztecs, Mayan, Zapotecan and other peoples from America and I like to intersect them with the aesthetics brought to America by the Spanish, like virgins, saints and holy beings. I intersect them with a third paradigm which is my personal journey into Indian philosophies and the idea of enlightenment. The result shows where I am now, believing that art is the way, and being an artist is my religion. I am an atheist, after years of searching. I am Mexican, after two migrations. I am a grandmother and that's a priviledge. Please check my IG to see processes, inspiration and things about Oaxaca.
