Bath-based artist and designer Anna Glasbrook pushes the boundaries of textiles to create vibrant three-dimensional "˜drawings' in space. Born in London in 1965, the daughter of a Danish tapestry weaver, she is heavily influenced by the Scandinavian and Japanese asthetic. Recently I have been commissioned by the Homebase Show Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show, awarded a £1000 development award from Strutt&Parker, I've designed a spectacular opening ceremony by Sir Peter Blake for the Holburne Museum in Bath, had my work featured with Tom Selleck in his prime time CBS series Blue Bloods, and been nominated for the FX Design Awards Breakthrough Talent of the Year 2011. My inspiration always comes from photographic images I take of the urban and rural environment. These images are my sketchbook. Details such as the rivulets on a beach or the ends of a stack of cut timber are frequent starting points in my work.
