Birth: 1982. Quito - Ecuador. Lives in Quito - Ecuador. Graphic Designer Engineer. Self-taught plastic artist, he has dabbled in techniques such as etching, aquatint, watercolor, pastel, oil, etc. The pictorial work of Jónathan Daza uses the landscape as the preferred theme, investigating the symbolic value of natural elements. This in the midst of a dialogue between light and shadow, generating in many cases a dramatic environment of strong contrasts with theatrical lighting, and on other occasions a soft dispersion of color and shapes; in function of transmitting a state of mind or the impression that natural elements cause in the artist and in a way also their identification, objectification or affiliation with some element. The distance, the depth, the abyss, the summit, the solitary tree, the rock, the path, etc., are elements full of meaning that cannot be overlooked. And the way in which these elements are treated in the pictorial work also has its meaning. Thus, the backlight shrouds a tree in mystery, which, if touched with frontal light, reveals it in all its texture and color. In this way the artist seeks that "personality" of the elements, which can generate interest and identification also, in the attentive observer.
