The Kiwi Bird Nest Painting

Kia ora, I’m a New Zealand-born visual illustration artist with over 38 years of experience working in glass and painting. My artistic journey started in the 80s with glasswork, and over time it evolved into something deeply personal, creating art that tells stories of Aotearoa’s culture, spirit, and environment. From the symbolic Koru to vibrant Kiwi scenes and native wildlife, my work is all about connection, to land, to heritage, and to each other. Alongside my wife Berna, we’ve built Koru Kiwi Arts as a small but meaningful creative studio. Over the years, we’ve had the joy of holding personal exhibitions, one of our proudest was called Koru – New Beginning, which captured our artistic evolution and life transitions. That show, and others, opened the door to new opportunities, and now we’re branching out to work with galleries who’ve found our work deeply moving and culturally rich. We’re currently based in Istanbul, but still very much connected to New Zealand, with local suppliers and a steady creative flow. Whether it’s a commission, a gallery piece, or a custom illustration, our goal is to make art that speaks to people, something with soul, meaning, and story.
