My visit to Mexico City in early 2023 inspired this series of paintings. I wanted to convey a sense of mystery, humor and joyous light and color to my viewers. I also used geometric shapes from the Tangram Puzzle as my visual vocabulary.

Maggie Jiang is a Seattle-based visual artist who makes abstract paintings that investigate the enigmatic qualities of geometry, the interactions of color, and the materiality of paint. Exhibiting regularly since 2016, Jiang has had solo exhibitions in the Pacific Northwest at the J. Rinehart Gallery, the Koplin Del Rio Gallery, and the Asia Pacific Culture Center. She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions at venues such as the Schack Art Center, Studio e Gallery, Ryan James Fine Art Gallery, Fathom Gallery, the Alice Gallery, and more. She is represented by the J. Rinehart Gallery in Seattle, WA. She was born in Beijing and educated in both China and the U.S.
