Maria Polushkina was born in Moscow. After graduating from School №686 (Class-Сentre of Sergey Kazarnovsky) she lived and studied in Germany. She graduated from the Faculty of Communications and Mass media at Free University of Berlin (Freie Universität Berlin). Since 2011 she lives in Moscow. Maria participated in 9 group exhibitions in Europe and Russia and also had 3 solo exhibitions in Russia and in Latvia. In 2016 she published the book "Between us" in co-authorship with the poet Anna Arkatova, which harmoniously combined poems and paintings. In 2022 Maria's painting will fly to the Moon as part of collaboration between the Moon Gallery and the European Space Agency (ESA). In total, 100 artist works will be placed in a small platform 10 x 10 x 1 cm, that would be attached to the lunar rover (more about the project: ). Works of the artist are in private collections in Germany, Netherlands, Estonia, Latvia, Sweden, Greece and Russia. Artist statement People interpret my painting style very differently. My teacher calls it painted (pictorial) graphics or graphic painting. I would like to develop a style between figurative painting and minimalistic abstraction. Conveying emotions, feelings, atmosphere in a simple way is very important for me. Sometimes you can even trace what feelings I experienced at a certain period of time. Also, in my paintings, I focus on color, or rather on combination of colors. After all, the first thing that draws my attention at exhibitions are the paintings with rich, beautiful and, most importantly, laconic palette. Sometimes I can spend the whole day just looking for a perfect color. Golden color is my favorite! In my opinion, it brings light, emotions and nobleness to the canvas.
