Eddie Walsh (EM Walsh) was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on the 26th day of August, 1941. Before going to University Eddie worked with a professional sign painter and this is where he got his first introduction to oil painting. At seventeen years of age he sold his first commission. It had stood the test of time for in excess of thirty years blazing against the Maritime winters and storms. Eddie has worked with painting most of his life designing matching colors for centennial homes as well as studying architectural residential designs. Many of his designs are in evidence in and around south western, Ontario. For the past five years Eddie has directed his attention toward abstract nature giving expression to painting works of art that are representative of land and seascapes mostly in acrylic which is his preference although he would be prepared to accept a commission in oil if the opportunity presented itself. "I'm now approaching my 75th year and I cannot learn enough. I will always paint God willing. My methods are different in many respects than those of my contemporary millennials in that I prefer to mix materials on the canvas as I go as opposed to mixing colors independently and then applying the desired hue color. In this way my work is never completely planned but produces an interesting surprise in most cases. The works of Fredrick Edwin Church, Thomas Moran, Tom Thomson, A.Y. Jackson, Thomas Cole, Albert Bierstadt are among my favorites.
