Tessa's largescale, statement canvasses will bring the movement and light of the natural world directly to your interior spaces. Her paintings are uplifting. She works on a large scale in a free flowing and colourful style, in order to reflect the grace and stature of the subjects - trees, water and the untamed, tangly corners of the countryside. Tessa paints from mental images collected through observation. She has a passion for trees, reflected in her work, but also in her dedication to growing, planting and nurturing native woodlands. This is a complement to her painting life and enables her to spend time outside in all seasons and all weathers, observing the characteristics of nature and storing up ideas for the studio. Tessa is based in the countryside in Dorset, UK, not too far from the coast. Her paintings fall into 2 categories; 1. Rolled Canvas Wallhangings These paintings are designed to hang unframed and finished in such a way that they hang flat against the wall creating a soft, unbounded presentation, in keeping with the movement of the subject and the materials. The natural loomstate canvas plays an integral role in the visual impact of these paintings, allowing the weave and textures of the fabric to become important features of each piece. The natural canvas has been prepared with multiple protective layers, treated for permanence and each piece is UV sealed after painting. The canvas is delivered complete with its own discreet hanging mechanism and the whole piece is suspended very simply from a single fixing point 2. Framed canvases These paintings are made on primed cotton duck, stretched over a rigid sub frame in the conventional manner. An external surrounding frame can be added, but is not necessary. Private Commissions Tessa frequently works to private commision and welcomes the opportunity to create a painting especially for a customer.
